Brighton chief reacts to Kieran McKenna link as Chelsea confirm decisive move

While they look for a new manager, Albion’s chief executive and deputy chairman

Paul Barber is adamant that the team has a plan in place.

The favorite to replace De Zerbi in the Albion dugout is still Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna,

but Russell Martin of Southampton, Francesco Farioli of Nice,

and even recently fired Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino are on the short list of potential successors.

Barber was given the moniker McKenna, who led Ipswich to the Premier League with consecutive promotions,

during the season’s penultimate game at the Amex Stadium against Manchester United on Sunday.

“I would be happy if I had only been called one name in the last 24 hours,” Barber jokingly said.

However, I’ve been called a lot of names. I won’t get into the names or categories of coaches.

“Our team plays a particular brand of football that appeals to the supporters.

We would like to advance from where we are. Roberto built on the work of Graham Potter,

and Graham built on the work of Chris Hughes.

We still have high goals and don’t believe there is a ceiling, but we must go about achieving them.

In the meantime, Chelsea decided to cut ways with Pochettino yesterday, and McKenna,

along with former Brighton manager De Zerbi.
