Rangers are completing the acquisitions of two defenders as part of a daring new transfer strategy tha

t they think will take the Premiership away from Celtic sooner rather than later, TEAMtalk can reveal.

Rangers are gearing up for a historic summer after arch rivals Celtic won the Scottish Premiership for the third consecutive season.

Manager Philippe Clement has remarked that the club is nearing the end of a cycle, with significant changes on the horizon.

The Gers will say goodbye to several renowned names, and many fresh faces will come through

Ibrox’s front doors. The ultimate goal, as you might guess, is to construct a team capable of defeating Celtic.

Rangers are off to a rapid start with their summer transfer ambitions, with sources claiming two moves are close to completion.

Rangers have been looking to reinforce their left-back position since January, with long-serving Borna Barisic poised to leave the club as a free agent.

Rangers were close to signing Fluminense’s Brazilian left back Jefte in January, but the deal fell through at the last minute.

This was due in part to Jefte already being on loan at Cypriot club APOEL Nicosia.

Rangers attempted but failed to negotiate a compromise that would terminate the loan agreement.

However, APOEL was unable to make the move permanent, and Rangers stepped in to negotiate their own permanent deal.

Jefte was always set to transfer to Ibrox in the summer, and his signing will be official in the coming weeks.

Second defender contract agreed for initial £1.5 million.

In addition, Rangers are likely to sign Panama international defender Jose Cordoba.

Personal details have been agreed upon, and Clement’s team is concluding a deal with Cordoba’s club, Levski Sofia.

According to sources, the first fee to sign the left-footed centre-half is £1.5 million. Add-ons might bring the final fee to £3.5 million.

Left-back and center-back are two crucial positions that Clement sought to bolster,

and the imminent additions reflect the club’s new orientation under Sporting Director Nils Koppen.

The goal is to identify outstanding young talent who can bring success to Ibrox and then be sold for a large profit.

Jefte is only 20 years old, whereas Cordoba is significantly older at 22. The brave new idea at Ibrox is to sign younger players with high potential on long-term deals.
