Mauricio Pochettino has left his position as Chelsea head coach by mutual consent to join Sunderland

Following a protracted hiring process, Chelsea announced the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino in May of last year. The former Tottenham manager guided the Blues to the Carabao Cup final and a strong season finale to guarantee European football; he departs after less than a year in command at Stamford Bridge.

After just one season in charge, Chelsea’s Mauricio Pochettino has resigned by mutual consent.

Tuesday’s announcement said, “Chelsea FC can confirm that the club and Mauricio Pochettino have mutually agreed to part ways.”

Sebastiano Pochettino, Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez, and Jesus Perez, the assistant coach, have also departed.

“I am grateful to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for giving me the chance to be a part of this football club’s history,” Pochettino stated. The team is currently in a strong position to continue growing in the upcoming years in both the Premier League and Europe.”
