In an attempt to replace Cyriel Dessers, former Hibernian player Tam McManus

has pushed Rangers to pursue

Heart of Midlothian attacker Lawrence Shankland.

In 47 games in all competitions, Shankland scored 31 goals and provided an assist eight times, capping an

incredible season with Hearts that is now over.

He won both the Scottish Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year and the PFA Scotland Players’

Player of the Year, which is hardly surprising given that he does not play for either Celtic or Rangers.

Rangers, a Glasgow-based team, has been connected to him recently as they look to challenge Celtic’s three-year

winning streak in the Scottish Premiership.

McManus, who believes Shankland is a better striker than Dessers and will score more goals for the Scottish

giants than the Nigerian forward, asked the Light Blues to show love for Shankland in an interview with PLZ

Soccer Show via Ibrox News.

“This is his dream season. It’s amazing for a player from outside the Old Firm to win two accolades.

He had over 30 goals the previous season and nearly 60 goals in his two Hearts seasons. It’s incredible.”

Naturally, there were a lot of rumors in January that he was moving to the Rangers and that they were

interested in signing him. I believe Rangers would have won the league if they had bought him for £4 million.”

“He is far superior to Dessers. Although Shankland would score 40 goals for this Rangers team, I am aware that

Dessers has only scored 20. Going to the Euros this summer, he has demonstrated this season that he is a top

striker.”

“It’s been the season of his dreams and he’s been brilliant.”

Due to his patchy goal scoring performances, Dessers has drawn criticism since relocating to Ibrox in the

summer.

Even though he has scored 22 goals for Philippe Clement’s team in all competitions, he hasn’t been able to win

over many people, and he could potentially be on the verge of departing the Scottish powerhouses shortly after

signing from Cremonese.
