The most recent Championship transfer news, featuring developments from Sheffield United and Leeds

Ivo Grbic, the goalkeeper, will be sold by Sheffield United following a challenging start to his tenure at Bramall Lane. The Daily Mail claims that the Blades paid approximately £2.5 million to acquire the Croatian goalkeeper during the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old overtook Wes Foderingham as the team’s first choice goalkeeper almost away, but despite scoring 32 goals in his 10 games for the Premier League’s bottom team, he was unable to improve the team’s dismal results.

The Sheffield Star is aware that, should the club receive a good offer, Grbic will depart Bramall Lane in the summer. Following the decision to release Foderingham, the former Atletico Madrid player is expected to become the second goalkeeper to depart the team this summer.

Earlier in the season, Chris Wilder acknowledged that the choice to sign Grbic had just not proven successful. “We did our homework on him,” he remarked. All of us, the fans as well, discussed the problem.

“We needed strength in that department, competition and whatever. We did due diligence on it, it’s just unfortunate that it’s not gone as well as all of us would have liked it to have gone.”

Sheffield United is anticipated to get a two-point deduction to begin the following season. Grbic has apparently been made available for a transfer away from the South Yorkshire team, joining players like Anis Slimane, Benie Traore, Anel Ahmedhodzic, and Vini Souza.

Following his season-ending loan at Union Berlin, USA international Brenden Aaronson will make his way back to Leeds United following Saturday’s thrilling 2-1 victory against SC Freiburg. The 23-year-old made 38 appearances overall, contributing two assists and two goals.

A statement on Union Berlin’s website read: “Brenden Aaronson joined 1. FC Union Berlin on loan from relegated Premier League side Leeds United in the last summer transfer window, winning the hearts of Union fans with his dashing style of play, his speed and, not to forget, his decisive goal against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. After 38 appearances, two goals and two assists, his time in Berlin has come to an end and he is returning to England.”

Aaronson is the first of several loanees, the majority of whom have unknown futures, who are anticipated to return to West Yorkshire in the upcoming weeks. Max Wober (Borussia Monchengladbach), Marc Roca (Real Betis), Jack Harrison (Everton), Diego Llorente (AS Roma), Rasmus Kristensen (AS Roma), and Max Wober (Everton) could all make a comeback.

Sunday’s Championship play-off final at Wembley pits Daniel Farke’s team against Southampton, with an immediate return to the Premier League on the line.

Reports from the Daily Mail suggest that if Leeds aren’t promoted they will need to raise around £100m in player sales to meet the Championship’s Profit and Sustainability rules. Much of this figure is likely to be generated by the permanent sales of some of the club’s loanees.
