‘Willing to make compromises’: Journalist drops huge hint on Sunderland’s pursuit of ‘top’ manager target

A journalist has offered a major indication about how Sunderland‘s pursuit of their ‘top’ manager target may potentially play out.

Sunderland has been looking for a new manager for months, and their season has ended more than two weeks ago.

There was speculation that the club was waiting for European leagues to complete,

with Will Still‘s time at Reims concluding yesterday with a 2-1 victory over Rennes.

The 31-year-old has been the most talked-about name in recent weeks,

but there has been little indication of when a new manager would be hired on Wearside.

Sunderland’s ‘primary target’ is ‘obvious’.

However, journalist Michael Graham has provided a new update on the investigation and has given a huge hint as to who the ‘top target’ could be.

When a fan on X questioned if he was pursuing Still or Liam Rosenior, Graham replied,

“I think it’s been clear who SAFC’s top choice is for months.” Let’s see if they can truly get him.

He went on to say, “Sunderland is willing to make compromises (rather than huge adjustments) on ‘the model’ for their primary aim.

Let’s see what happens.

Will Still can restore belief back to Wearside.

While it is not explicitly stated, it appears that Will Still is the one for whom we are willing to go all in.

With the French season coming to a conclusion this weekend, we can expect things to pick up.

Still previously complained about Reims’ transfer policy, which is comparable to Sunderland’s in recent years.

However, Graham’s X post shows that Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Kristjaan Speakman are willing to give Still more control over transfer arrivals and instead search for more experienced players.

With football over, there is no reason for the Black Cats not to bring Still in over the following weeks. If that is possible, there will be a lot more belief in the Stadium of Light.
