Sunderland’s stance over permanent deal for 24-year-old loan man emerges
When Sunderland announced in January that they had signed Hungary international Styles on a one-year loan from Barnsley, it appeared as though they had struck gold.
The two teams did, however, agree to a permanent transfer option.
As a result, concerns have been raised about what might be in store for him in light of his loan’s buy option.
Reporter Alan Nixon has since stated on his Patreon that Sunderland might be looking into alternatives to activate the provision allowing Styles to sign a permanent contract. It casts uncertainty on a stay and suggests that he will definitely go back to Barnsley.
He was hired by both a new and former manager, Michael Beale.
With this new development, Styles’ immediate future appears to be uncertain.
His chances of making a permanent move to Sunderland are doubtful as he hasn’t been able to make the kind of impression that was hoped for. He is returning to Barnsley in the event that they decide not to exercise their option.
The 20-year-old Hungary international has frequently demonstrated his ability to contribute significantly at the championship level. It would come as a shock if he stays with Barnsley because of his versatility, which also makes him a fantastic asset.
Styles may not be part of Wearside’s future plans, but the Championship club will undoubtedly have a busy summer ahead of them as they prepare for a new era.
The 2023–24 season was difficult and full of bad choices, thus Sunderland’s new recruits and manager selection have been ideal.
Though prospective targets will be considered, the real action will start when the next boss shows up.
