Sunderland are still looking for their new manager following Mike Dodds’ dismal temporary term,

despite the fact that the Championship regular season has been over since the beginning of May.

Now, as the month comes to a close, the gossip mill is abuzz with speculation about who might be the next manager to take over,

despite no actual developments from the club itself.

The powers that be at the Wearside business could simply be practicing patience,

trying to avoid a hasty appointment like their previous pick of Michael Beale,

but  there will come a time very soon when an announcement will have to be made to see in a brand-new era at the Stadium of Light.

The powers that be at the Wearside outfit may simply be practicing patience,

wishing to prevent a hasty appointment like their previous pick of Michael Beale,

but an announcement will be required very soon to usher in a brand-new era at the Stadium of Light.

Aside from other speculated names like Bo Svensson,

the Black Cats are still associated with this newly terminated manager,

who will want to return to management in the EFL as soon as possible.

Sunderland seeking for a “fabulous” new manager.

It’s no secret that former Hull City manager Liam Rosenior is near the top of the new manager shortlist in Wearside,

with reports indicating he’s been in the running for the Sunderland job since his unexpected departure from the Tigers.

Last week, Football Insider reported that Sunderland had made a move for Rosenior over the empty job position,

with football journalist Alan Nixon adding fuel to the fire by declaring the out-of-work boss is ‘on the radar’ of Sunderland via his Patreon.

Having lifted Hull out of the relegation zone in his first season in charge,

and narrowly missing out on the playoffs by one position this season before his dismissal, the 39-year-old –

who has been described as “fabulous” by ex-Stoke City manager Tony Pulis in a recent interview –

could well relish the opportunity to turn around the Black Cats’ fortunes if appointed as Dodds’ successor.

Daniel Ballard might also benefit greatly from Rosenior potentially taking the centre-back under his wing,

given what the former Tigers manager has gotten out of Jacob Greaves this season,

who is currently linked with a move to the Premier League.

How Rosenior can get more out of Ballard

Greaves has been transformed into a defensive stalwart for Hull under Rosenior’s tutelage,

earning a spot in the Championship Team of the Season, edging out Joe Rodon for one of the centre-back positions.

Greaves kept 11 clean sheets for the failed playoff aspirants this season,

while also scoring two goals and providing four assists as a steady presence on the ball operating out of the back.

Ballard falls short in several statistics when comparing the two centre-backs,

according to FBRef, but under Rosenior’s attentive supervision at the Stadium of Light, the ex-Arsenal junior player could eventually get to Greaves’ level.

The in-demand manager might also give Sunderland renewed hope that they can progress out of the Championship,

having led his old club to the brink of a playoff berth before being controversially stripped of his job.

Rosenior, who recently ruled himself out of contention for the Birmingham City position,

may see the daunting challenge of reviving the Black Cats as his next opportunity to prove naysayers wrong back at Hull.

Ballard would be overjoyed at this development,

knowing that the 39-year-old’s leadership would only improve his game.
