Report: Celtic are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper

Celtic are reportedly looking to recruit Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Patrick Pentz. The Scottish Champions will be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper in the summer, after Joe Hart confirmed earlier this season that he was retiring.

According to Football Insider, Celtic have expressed interest in the 27-year-old, who is presently on loan at Brondby. Pentz has one year left on his contract with Bayer Leverkusen, and the report suggests that Celtic could make a move to sign the Austrian international.

Despite his age, he has only made over 190 matches in his career, none of which were with the current Bundesliga champions. His performances have piqued the interest of Southampton and PSV, who are hoping to sign him on a permanent basis this summer.

Celtic have been connected with Burnley’s Aro Muric, Southampton’s Alex McCarthy, and Motherwell’s Liam Kelly as Brendan Rodgers tries to acquire a new goalkeeper for next season. The Scottish Champions will undoubtedly miss Hart, who has been outstanding since joining from Tottenham in the summer of 2021.
