Ross McCausland had only five practices with the Rangers first team a year prior.

Now, against Old Firm rivals Celtic, the teenage Northern Irish winger has the opportunity to make history at Hampden for his boyhood club.

Philippe Clement has made it apparent that for many of the Rangers players who are leaving, the Scottish Cup Final is their final chance to make a lasting impression.

Even though many of the team’s present players won’t be around to build on it, a cup double will give supporters some hope for the upcoming season.

However, Ross McCausland, a player who will be in the Rangers lineup next season, made an impression as the Scottish Premiership came to an end.

Following the 3-3 draw at Tynecastle, Philippe Clement singled out Ross McCausland to score in back-to-back Premiership matches against Dundee and Hearts.

It is evident that the Rangers boss has high regard for the 20-year-old winger, as he called him a rare “positive” amidst the agony of the team’s injury problem.

The winger was formerly of Linfield.
Additionally, Clement believes McCausland is returning to his peak after a devastating challenge in the Motherwell loss halted the winger’s progress.

“Observe the past few weeks, our young boys have been assimilated into the team,” Clement told the media following Hearts’ 3–3 tie.

How today’s young boys are developing with an excellent goal, just like Ross.

“That was a player, Ross, who trained with the first team five times during the entire season last year.

He has now played a significant number of games. It’s a shame he lost the momentum he was gaining when he was sent off the field for eight to ten weeks a few months ago.

“However, I see the best Ross returning and good things about Robbie (Fraser), Cole McKinnon, and Johnly (Yfeko) in the training as well.

“So, we’re putting a lot of effort into that, and I believe that’s also a good thing.”
