Kieran McKenna of Ipswich Town has been linked with Brighton’s management job.

According to Ed Aarons, the Seagulls will certainly try to entice the Northern Irishman to go to the Amex Stadium.

Roberto de Zerbi revealed his exit from the Premier League club last weekend,

fueling concerns about McKenna’s future at Portman Road.

The 38-year-old has received a lot of plaudits for his performance with the Suffolk club,

leading them to back-to-back promotions from League One to the top level.

Ipswich are ready for their first top-flight season since 2002,

after finishing second in their first year back in the Championship.

Carlton Palmer makes Kieran McKenna’s future forecast.

According to Carlton Palmer, McKenna will only consider leaving the Tractor Boys if it means joining one of the country’s premier clubs,

such as Liverpool or Manchester United.

He feels that McKenna will not be tempted to move to Brighton given the support he has received from Ipswich’s owners.

“It’s believed Brighton are set to make an approach to Ipswich Town for Kieran McKenna to replace the departing de Zerbi,” Palmer said.

“I don’t see Kieran McKenna leaving Ipswich Town to go to Brighton, no disrespect.

“Kieran McKenna has done an excellent job, with back-to-back promotions,

promotion to the Premier League, and wealthy owners who have backed him and supported him.

“I believe they will continue to support him and back him,

so I don’t see him leaving unless he gets a top job,

and it appears that the Liverpool job is no longer available.”

“If Manchester United came calling, you’d see him heading there.

“It has to be for a top job; the West Ham job has gone.

“It’s just Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, and all of those jobs.

“I believe the only one that could become available, we don’t know,

we’ll have to see, is the Manchester United job with [Erik] Ten Hag.

“Which, again, I believe Ten Hag should be allowed one more season, with the backing, infrastructure,

and assistance of the new regime, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, to see how he does.

“In a nutshell, I do not see Kieran McKenna leaving Ipswich to go to Brighton.

“I think he still wants to continue the journey that he’s doing with Ipswich and see how he fares in the Premier League with them.”

McKenna took over at Ipswich in December 2021 and has led them to successive second-place finishes in the standings.

This has resulted in the club’s amazing return to the top division,

where it has not participated in more than 20 years.

McKenna is in his first full management post in sport,

having previously worked as an academy and first-team coach at Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

There has been no decision on his future amid links to Brighton,

but he is under contract with Ipswich until the summer of 2025.

Brighton is not a great enough opportunity to leave Ipswich adventure.

Brighton has built a great reputation as one of the best-run clubs in European sport,

reaching the Europa League quarterfinals under de Zerbi.

However, the potential to relocate from Ipswich is not significant enough for McKenna to abandon his journey at Portman Road just yet.

If he was approached by Liverpool or Manchester United,

he would find it impossible to turn down such a chance.

However, McKenna should stick to his guns for the time being and continue at Ipswich if Brighton make a formal approach this summer,

as managing them in the top flight would be an excellent next step in his career.
