Leeds United face major transfer decision after forward’s ‘decisive’ loan stint

Union Berlin is no longer home to Brenden Aaronson. After his season-long loan period ends,

the American international is returning to Leeds United, the German club has revealed.

After the West Yorkshire team was relegated to the Championship, Aaronson’s contract allowed him to leave

Elland Road in the summer. With two goals in 38 games, he became a mainstay in the Bundesliga team’s first

squad.

In his last game with Union Berlin, the USA international picked up an assist to help them defeat Freiburg 2-1.

Union Berlin’s Bundesliga position was guaranteed by the outcome, sparing them from the dreaded two-leg

relegation play-off against the second-place team in the second division.

The following was stated in a statement from Union Berlin: “Brenden Aaronson won the hearts of Union fans

with his dashing style of play, his speed, and, not to forget, his decisive goal against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

He joined 1. FC Union Berlin on loan from relegated Premier League side Leeds United in the last summer

transfer window.”His tenure in Berlin is coming to an end, and he is heading back to England after 38 games,

two goals, and two assists.

What Aaronson’s future holds is yet unknown. Last month, the 23-year-old made it known that he would be

amenable to a permanent move to Union Berlin.

Will Daniel Farke include the adaptable attacker in his long-term plans, regardless of the division in which

United plays next season? According to a recent report by Football Insider, United plans to sell Aaronson this

summer in an effort to recover the £12 million they originally spent for his services.
