Confirmed: Celtic to sign Ari Muric from Burnley as perfect Joe Hart replacement
There is only one match remaining for Celtic and Rangers in the 2023–24 season,
and that match is an Old
Firm rivalry in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday.
After defeating St. Mirren 3-2 on Saturday, Brendan Rodgers’ team raised the Scottish Premiership trophy and
opened an eight-point lead over their bitter rivals.
Rangers will be eager to dampen the spirits of their rivals and win some hardware of their own, but Celtic will
surely have the upper hand going into their encounter at Hampden Park on Saturday. And GlasgowWorld has
compiled some of the most recent news about both teams in advance of what promises to be an intense match.
Hart substitution
As they prepare for life beyond Joe Hart, Celtic has been linked to a deal for Ari Muric. According to The
Scottish Sun, Burnley’s goalie is well-liked by the management at Parkhead and may consider leaving Turf
Moor after James Trafford’s £19 million signing last summer caused him to plummet in the hierarchy.
After a three-year tenure with Celtic, Hart has announced that he would retire from football following this
Saturday’s Scottish Cup final. Since the announcement in February, several replacements have been linked to a
transfer to Glasgow; the most recent being Kosovo international Muric.
The Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin has also attracted Celtic’s attention; alternative candidates include
former England international Alex McCarthy. This summer, McCarthy’s contract with Southampton expires,
and he may become a free agent.
Souttar teasing
As he and his Leicester City teammates celebrated their promotion to the Premier League, Harry Souttar—a
reported summer target—was seen sporting a vintage Rangers shirt. With just three league games under his
belt, Souttar was linked to a summer transfer to Ibrox by Enzo Maresca’s team.
After wrapping up the Championship championship, most of the Foxes stars have gone on holiday and standout
player Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall uploaded a picture of himself alongside Conor Coady, Harry Winks, Marc
Albrighton and Souttar. And it is the latter’s attire that has drawn attention, as there is what seems to be a home
Rangers 1997–1999 shirt visible.
