Bucs have confirmed $25million pay for Chris Godwin
After this season, Chris Godwin’s contract expires. How much money will he want then?
In addition to being Christian McCaffrey’s father and a SiriusXM NFL Radio broadcaster, Ed McCaffrey was a standout wide receiver who once had three seasons with 1,000 yards or more while receiving passes from four different starting quarterbacks.
McCaffrey examined the receivers market’s surge in terms of salary this week on the radio.
“A wide receiver in the top ten, maybe even the top fifteen, will now start at $25 million annually. If you’re bargaining, McCaffrey said, you’re definitely looking for $26 million or more simply based on the top ten.
Godwin earned his third straight season of 1,000 yards or more and missed no games in 2018.
Oh, and Godwin will get $20 million this year for the third season in a row.
If Godwin is requesting, as McCaffrey implies, more than $25 million annually on a multiyear contract, Joe would totally understand.
Will he, though, be worth it? In addition to earning $21 million this year and next, Mike Evans has the potential to earn an additional $10 million in incentives.

Last year, Licht described Godwin as “a phenomenal player, a phenomenal person, and a great example to this entire team.” You know, you kind of take him for granted since he works his ass every day. After suffering a severe injury, he recovered more quickly than anyone could have predicted. He’s basically Mr. Consistency, you know.
