Forest set to cash in on Joe Worrall amid Leeds’ £4m bid in January as Premier League clubs want ‘excellent’ defender

Leeds United made an unexpected loan offer to Nottingham Forest in January, and the Premier League team is now prepared to sell the defender for a meager £4 million.

Leeds was searching for a center defender toward the conclusion of the transfer window because Pascal Struijk had been injured and had not been playing till now. Connor Roberts was finally signed by Leeds on loan from Burnley in January.

Leeds had to move Ethan Ampadu into defense and Joe Rodon to center back since they couldn’t find a center-back. Considering how effective Ampadu had been in midfield, it felt like a frustrating decision at the moment.

Naturally, though, as time passed, Ampadu and Rodon became a formidable defensive duo, and Ilia Gruev took Ampadu’s spot in the middle of the park as if nothing had changed—at times, even surpassing Ampadu in skill.

Joe Worrall of Forest was one player Leeds was linked to during the January transfer window; rumors even said that The Whites put in a loan offer to entice the center-back to Elland Road until the conclusion of the campaign.

Since then, Worrall has been on loan to SuperLig giants Besiktas in Turkey, where he has performed admirably, but he is still listed at Forest. Here’s a fresh update on his prospects.

Forest willing to cash in on Joe Worrall amid Leeds bid in January

Worrall is a leader who Gary McAllister called “excellent” while he was on loan at Rangers. Prior to his loan, Forest’s club captain, and if he doesn’t end up departing under Nuno, that might continue in the summer.

However, because he was loaned to Besiktas in January, he is probably on his way. On his Patreon channel, Alan Nixon of The Sun writes that Forest is prepared to cash in on Worrall for a lowly £4 million price.

After the season, he will decide whether to finalize a permanent move to Besiktas, as Sheffield United under Chris Wilder is eager to have him join the team that will participate in the Turkish Cup final.

Should Leeds reconsider a move for Worrall this summer?

Indeed, it can depend on the promotion. Although Worrall has occasionally performed well in the Premier League with Forest, his effectiveness as a Championship center-back is far greater. Certainly, if Leeds were to fall short of promotion.

A leader and very experienced player departs for £4 million. Definitely a no-brainer if Leeds manage to stay in the second division, given that Joe Rodon’s permanent contract is uncertain and Liam Cooper is set to depart.

However, a promotion would allow Rodon to sign a long-term contract and give Daniel Farke’s team more choices. The fact that Sheffield United is interested shows that they think he would make a good addition to a Championship team.
