Following this weekend’s season-ending game against Manchester United,

Brighton’s head coach Roberto De Zerbi will step down, the Premier League team announced on Saturday.

After Graham Potter left Brighton in September 2022, De Zerbi took over.

He had an immediate impact, helping the team earn their first-ever European qualification and their highest top-flight result of sixth.

Brighton made it to the Europa League round of 16, but they had difficulty in the Premier League this year.

As of Sunday, the last day of the season, they sit in 10th place.

“Roberto has served us well for two seasons, leading the team to unprecedented heights—

not the least of which was our inaugural European campaign, which will live on in the memory of

“I am very sad to be leaving Brighton,

but I am very proud of what my players and staff have achieved with the support of everyone at

the club and our amazing fans in the past two historical seasons,” De Zerbi stated.

“I have thoroughly loved my two years working in the Premier League,

which have been demanding and exciting. This season, I have participated in four important events.

By departing now, I’ll have more time to reflect before making my next move.”
