Keith Wyness, the former head of Everton,

has speculated that Leicester City would begin the 2024–25 season with zero points.

The 66-year-old, who ran a football consultancy advising elite clubs after serving

as CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009, stated the Foxes are “in a position of strength”

following promotion despite their dire financial circumstances in an interview

with Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.

Leicester was penalized by the Premier League in March for allegedly breaking

the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) of the league, and the EFL also decided to impose a transfer embargo on the team.

In response, Enzo Maresca’s team filed a “urgent” lawsuit against both leagues.

Leicester reported an £89.7 million deficit for the 2022–2023 season;

under PSR, teams are only permitted to lose £105 million over a rolling three-year period.

According to Wyness, Leicester may lose points in the 2024–25 campaign.

According to Wyness, there are still “too many loose ends”

before a decision can be made about the Championship winners’ punishment.

According to what I understand, they might receive a point deduction right early in the upcoming season.

I’m not sure if they will file an appeal for it.

“At this point, there are too many unanswered questions to offer any firm conclusions or recommendations.

Another complex scenario brought up by a significant ambiguity in the regulations.

At least Leicester has been promoted. Instead of making my case in the Championship,

I’d like to be in that circumstance. They’re in a strong position.

“To help pay these amazing lawyers we are getting to know so well, they have the Premier League riches in.”
