This summer, Borussia Monchengladbach hopes to sign Max Wöber permanently from Leeds United, but the asking price of £14.6 million stands in the way.

The last games of the domestic seasons in Europe’s top flight divisions are drawing to an end as June approaches. Three Leeds loanees have been trying to make an impression in the Bundesliga; however, the results have been uneven.

Max Wöber is seeking for a permanent transfer, Robin Koch has already secured one, and Brenden Aaronson may be demoted very soon.

This season, Max Wöber has called Borussia Monchengladbach home, and he has performed well enough to merit ongoing negotiations between his present team and his parent club.

This week, Bild revealed that Leeds is demanding a sum almost twice as high as that, at €17 million (£14.6 million), while Gladbach is seeking to recruit the Austrian international for €9 million (£7.7 million).

Gladbach is currently displeased with Leeds’ aggressive negotiating style, as they hope to make a tidy profit on the defender’s January 2023 signing price.

After being demoted, the players’ influence proved too strong for the team to handle in terms of departures, and they were obliged to let several go without getting paid for them.

Although Daniel Farke was not pleased to have to address the situation, he reaffirmed that the 49ers wanted to make sure it wouldn’t occur during any future transfer window.

Leeds’ strategy with Wöber, which aims to turn a profit rather than examine any low-cost deals, is the first example of that.

Leeds now look to have the ball in their court when negotiating, and any clubs that are looking to take advantage once more might be greeted with a much more aggressive 49ers response.
