Leeds United’s mauling of Norwich City sparks major managerial decision
Leeds United look to have triggered the Norwich City board to sack manager David Wagner after being thumped 4-0 at Elland Road.
Leeds’ sole means of returning to the Premier League was through the playoffs, where they are currently just
one step away. Leeds’ path back did not come via automatic promotion.
Leeds was the favorite in a playoff semi-final matchup with Norwich,
but the Canaries were sixth for a reason and posed a serious threat to the Whites.
Daniel Farke was playing against his old team in Norwich for the fourth time this season,
and he had not yet suffered a loss against David Wagner’s team.
Leeds maintained that record with a thorough performance in front of a crowd that ate up the Norwich players
whole from the very first minute.
Joel Piroe, Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, and Ilia Gruev all scored goals to propel Leeds to the
semi-finals and secure a trip to Wembley.
They take on the victor of tonight’s other semifinal match, which ended in a scoreless draw between
Southampton and West Brom.
As the dust settles on Norwich’s season coming to an abrupt end, David Wagner’s tenure at Carrow Road is also
coming to an end, according to reports from The Sun.
According to them, the Canaries are prepared to fire the German manager in the upcoming weeks in order to
choose a more progressive one.
Wagner set up Norwich strangely against Leeds.
They appeared subpar from the start and offered almost no defense against our attempts to pressure and
eventually overwhelm them.
We appeared content with whatever Norwich threw at us at the 3-0 score, and you have to give the management
credit for that.
There should be concerns if Farke can play against your formation with such ease in all four games this season
and nothing has changed.
