Green Bay Packers Could Consider Cutting Massive Fan Favorite Before 2024 Season

Green Bay Packers Could Consider Cutting Massive Fan Favorite Before 2024 Season

The Green Bay Packers had a strong offseason overall,

which will position them well to compete in the 2024 NFL season.

In NFL free agency, Brian Gutekunst signed running back Josh Jacobs and safety Xavier McKinney,

two important additions.

After making those decisions, the Packers had another outstanding NFL draft.

With the regular season approaching, the Packers will have to make some difficult choices.

They will need to decide which players to maintain and who to cut between now and then.

Before the 2024 season begins, an NFL journalist proposed that the Green Bay Packers

might think about parting ways with a huge fan favorite.

The Green Bay Packers May Think About Eliminating a Huge Fan Favorite
A.J. Dillon, according to Sayre Bedinger of Dairyland Express, is “on the chopping block” for the upcoming offseason.

He believes that the arrival of rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd,

selected in the third round, may allow Green Bay to get past Dillon.

“The former USC standout Lloyd was selected by the Packers with the 88th overall choice,

and offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich stated during a press conference following the

draft that the team expects him to receive a lot of runs immediately. Until further notice, Dillon is off the table.

The Packers dismissing Dillon would come as a shock after they re-signed him in free agency.

Matt LaFleur thinks highly of Dillon’s contributions on the field.

It appears far more likely that Dillon’s role will be changed by the Green Bay Packers.

Despite getting a lot of touches and serving as the team’s backup

running back during the past few years, that might change.

He might develop into a fullback more like Josiah Deguara did in previous seasons.

The Packers will need to determine whether they believe Dillon is suited for that position, though.

Lloyd is a strong candidate to become the starting backup running back in the end.

If the coaching staff cannot come up with another plan for Dillon, they may decide to cut him.

Fans have grown to appreciate “Quadzilla” throughout his time with the Green Bay Packers; therefore, it would be a sad day.

However, this would be yet more action that demonstrates that the NFL is a business.

You may anticipate hearing more speculations regarding the Packers’ potential roster cuts in the near future.

They’ll have to make some difficult choices, and one of them might involve A.J. Dillon.
