As personal terms agreed upon with a four-year contract deal, Sunderland express interest in the 39-year-old boss.

Football Insider reports that Sunderland has expressed interest in Liam Rosenior as they continue their search for a new manager.

After Michael Beale left Sunderland earlier this year, the club is now looking for a long-term replacement.

During the latter part of the previous season,

Mike Dodds served as interim manager of the North East team,

and the Black Cats ultimately concluded the season in a depressing 16th place in the standings.

Despite leading Hull City to seventh place in the league under 39-year-old Rosenior,

they ultimately finished three points shy of the play-offs.

The club’s management fired him as a result, and he is currently considering his next course of action.

Football Insider reports that as Sunderland gets ready for the upcoming season, they are now keeping an eye on him.

He’s also been added to Birmingham City’s shortlist as they prepare for life in League One after being demoted from the Championship.

Rosenior’s sudden departure from Hull City offers Sunderland the perfect chance to entice him to the Stadium of Light immediately,

as they believe he is the guy who can lead them ahead.

Being a play-out-from-the-back manager,

he will have gained a lot of experience from his most recent stint at the MKM Stadium.

His squad played attractive football,

and although though the Tigers finished outside the top six, he appears to have a bright future as a head coach.

The fact that Hull City didn’t score enough goals, particularly at home, is a major critique of his style.

Before hanging up his boots,

Rosenior played for a considerable portion of his playing career in East Yorkshire and briefly for Bristol City,

Fulham, and Brighton and Hove Albion.

The former full-back joined Derby County as Wayne Rooney’s backup after beginning his coaching career with the Seagulls academy.

After that, he was hired by the Rams on an interim basis and played for 12 games before Paul Warne took his position.

Then, in November 2022, Hull City hired him back to replace Shota Arveladze.

He kept them up in his first season there before pushing them to challenge for promotion this past season.
Will Sunderland make an attempt?

As they weigh their alternatives, only time will tell if Sunderland decides to go in for Rosenior.

But, given his recent firing,

he is definitely someone the Black Cats should consider hiring.

He would be an interesting addition.
