Sunderland tipped to replace Jack Clarke with ‘fantastic’ free-agent in summer deal

To replace Jack Clarke, Sunderland is expected to acquire an attacker from League One.

In the coming months, Sunderland may decide to let go of Jack Clarke, a winger who has drawn a lot of interest since the summer.

With 15 goals in the Championship so far this year, Clarke is probably nearing the end of his career with the team in the coming weeks.

Although the Black Cats have made an effort to lock down the forward with a new contract, it appears that supporters are finally accepting that his time at the Stadium of Light is coming to an end.

Clarke’s departure will undoubtedly cost Sunderland a lot of money, but they still have a lot of work ahead of them in finding a replacement.

When Clarke missed a month of action this season, Sunderland was able to score just five goals in six games, making his absence quite evident.

A player who can find the net as easily as he does and is keen to join a team that is expected to finish in the middle of the table is needed by Wearside.

Josh Murphy of Oxford United is one player the Black Cats have been connected to recently. The club dispatched scouts to observe the winger in action during their 5-0 victory against Peterborough United over the weekend.

In his previous 12 games for Oxford, the 29-year-old has six goals and four assists. Should they not be promoted, he might be available this summer on a free transfer.

Carlton Palmer, a pundit, has now stated that Murphy, although not fitting the “model,” may be “excellent business” for Sunderland.
