Attacker Ali Al-Hamadi of Ipswich Town had surgery to treat an adductor issue that had been bothering him late in the season.

In the second half of the Championship season, the 22-year-old,

who originally joined the Blues from League Two team AFC Wimbledon in January,

scored four goals from 14 appearances, including one start.

But in order to help Town get promoted to the Premier League,

he has been fighting through a persistent adductor injury.

Manager Kieran McKenna said back in March that the player was “under constant treatment and medication”

and that his condition was “something that will need to be reviewed again at the end of the season.”

According to Iraq Football, he underwent that surgery yesterday and, if everything proceeds according to plan,

should return to full fitness in around five weeks. Though specifics are still pending,

it would enable him to get back into the game before the start of Ipswich’s preseason training.

Al-Hamadi sent a picture and a message to his supporters on X, the former Twitter, this morning.

“These last few months of the season have been really gruelling for me mentally and physically,

” he stated in the post. “Been playing through a lot of pain to support the staff, supporters,

and teammates in achieving our objective.
