Bears release full official 2024 schedule: Matchups for all 17 games, including an unusual division twist

CHICAGO — The Bears‘ 2024 schedule was released Wednesday, along with the rest of the NFL slate.

The Caleb Williams era kicks off in Chicago on Sept. 8 when the Bears host the Tennessee Titans in conjunction with the 100-year anniversary of Soldier Field.

In the first ten weeks of the season, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft will face six of the NFL’s youngest quarterbacks, including a highly anticipated battle with this year’s No. 2 pick, Jayden Daniels, when Chicago plays at the Washington Commanders in Week 8. The third choice in the draft, Drake Maye, and the New England Patriots will play the Bears two weeks from now.

In 2024, the Bears will travel to London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to play the Jacksonville Jaguars in what will be considered a home game on October 13. This will mark Chicago’s first overseas trip in five years.

Here is what’s in store for the Bears:

Week 2: Sept. 15 at Houston (SNF)

Week 3: Sept. 22 at Indianapolis

Week 16: Dec. 22 vs. Detroit

Week 17: Dec. 26 vs. Seattle (TNF)

Week 18: Jan. 5 at Green Bay

Strength of schedule: The Bears are tied for the league’s third-easiest schedule, as their opponents had a .467 win percentage last season.

Over/under: 8.5 wins

Biggest takeaway

The Bears have started division play as late as Week 11 after facing an NFC North opponent five times in the previous five seasons, which is extremely unusual. Six of Chicago’s final eight games are against division rivals, starting with a run of home games against Green Bay and Minnesota. Weeks 11 through 13 will include a Thanksgiving Day matchup against Detroit. Since 2019, the Bears’ record in NFC North games has not been better than 2-4. They play Green Bay to wrap off the regular season once more, where they lost to the Packers in January when they were trying to secure a postseason berth.

Revenge game

In Week 17, “Thursday Night Football” will feature old team, the Seahawks, taking on new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. From 2021 to 2023, Waldron served as Seattle’s offensive coordinator. He brought three previous Seattle coaches with him: Robbie Picazo, an offensive assistant, Kerry Joseph, a quarterback, and Chad Morton, a running back. Under Waldron’s tutelage, Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith had a career-best 2022 season in which he won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award and topped the league in completion percentage (69.8%).

Bold prediction

Predicting a Chicago victory over Green Bay makes sense given that the Bears haven’t defeated the Packers since their first meeting of the 2018 season. Why not go one step farther with it? Utilizing their favorable schedule, the Bears triumph on the road against Indianapolis, Washington, Detroit, and Minnesota before concluding with a 10-7 record and a postseason trip.
