Taiwo Awoniyi, the striker Nottingham Forest was hoping to sign, is suddenly available this summer for £34 million.

After being promoted to the Premier League, the Reds had an extremely busy summer, recruiting thirty players.

The promotion-winning team’s loan players returned, which created a few openings in the Forest lineup.

There was always going to be interest in a striker, and Awoniyi arrived to Forest for a reported sum of over £18 million.

However, another striker was linked with Forest first and he’s now enjoyed a brilliant season with his valuation rocketing.

A Ukrainian talisman, Forest wanted him for a fraction of the price they paid for Awoniyi when he was at SK-Dnipro.

The 26-year-old joined Girona in the summer of last year, and he has made the La Liga team one of the season’s biggest surprises.

He has nine assists and 21 goals in all competitions this 2023–2024 season.

Dovbyk is reportedly attracting interest from Juventus, AC Milan, and Napoli for this summer, according to a report by Football Espana.

Additionally, it is said that Girona will not accept a penny less than the £34 million stated in his contract as a release clause.

It’s reasonable to argue that Forest’s offensive line may use some replenishment before the upcoming campaign.

Despite having severe injury problems during his two seasons at Forest, Awoniyi has managed to score 17 goals overall.

Despite Chris Wood’s twelve goals this season, Forest needs to start considering someone a little younger because he is thirty-two years old.

Dovbyk might be on the team’s short list, but signing him will not be simple given his £34 million price tag.

It’s possible that the club lost out on this one, as he was only available for £10 million following Forest’s promotion.
