Sullivan Finds Unlikely Ally in Jordan

There has been criticism of West Ham’s handling of Moyes’ departure, particularly from Moyes’s supporters in

the media. Nevertheless, take into account the possibility that, given Moyes’ early reluctance to sign a new

contract and supporters’ worries about his style of play, the club’s choice to look into other options may be

justifiable.

The club was in a challenging situation, even though Sullivan’s handling of the matter may have been done

better. There would have been backlash if a decision to name a successor manager had been put off. To put it

plainly, it would have been irresponsible of West Ham to have let Moyes leave without arranging a replacement.

Remarkably, Sullivan’s longtime opponent and former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has defended him.

Jordan points out that Moyes was given a new contract offer by West Ham in February, but he declined it at the time.
He contends that West Ham shouldn’t have been had to hold out for other choices till Moyes’ contract ran out.

Jordan also holds Moyes partially responsible for the delay in starting contract talks.

Overall, there was much better way we could have handled this. Although the Ruben Amorim scenario did not

look good, it ultimately comes down to the need to replace an employee (Moyes) whose contract had expired.
