West Ham close to £14.5m agreement for Harry Clarke.

Reportedly, West Ham and the London Stadium are nearing an agreement to renovate the West Stand for £14.5 million.

Numerous West Ham supporters were and still are extremely dissatisfied with numerous aspects of the massive relocation to Stratford.

The distance between the stands and the pitch has been the main point of criticism.

And considering what they had at their cherished Upton Park and the vision that was offered to them upon departing the illustrious Boleyn Ground,

it is understandable why supporters have been so incensed.Ipswich Town: Harry Clarke keen to score a 'special' goal for Blues | Ipswich Star

A while back, vice-chairman Karren Brady, co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold,

promised to look into the prospect of moving seats closer to the pitch.

They delivered on their promise, and last year the London Stadium’s seating arrangements behind both goals were changed.

The arrangement of the seats was squared off in the manner of older football stadiums.

It looks better visually, for sure. The two redesigned stands, Bobby Moore Lower Tiers and Sir Trevor Brooking,

were completely planned with any potential advancements in safe standing in the future in mind.

In order to enable them to be modified in the event that the Premier League’s safe standing policies change,

they must be compatible for future installation.

West Ham and the London Stadium stand renovation are almost at the £14.5 million mark.
Brady assured fans that West Ham would communicate with the architects to assess the feasibility of eventually dividing the arena’s east and west stands.

And now a deal to renovate the West Stand for £14.5 million is almost finalized for West Ham.

In his appearance before the London Assembly budget committee last month,

Gerry Murphy, the deputy CEO of London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC),

stated as much.Murphy stated, as cited by Claret and Hugh as well,

“We are just at a point of agreeing on a West Stand improvement programme through sustainable capital investment.”
