Despite having numerous of admirers throughout the world, Novak Djokovic is viciously criticized by some. The tennis icon Paul McNamee thinks this is because these fans don’t think the Serbian is sincere, but he says that’s not the right term.

This defeat extends Djokovic’s lackluster 2024 season thus far; the 24-time Grand Slam champion has a 12-5 record and hasn’t made it to the championship match. His greatest finishes came in the Australian Open and Monte Carlo semifinals.

Tennis commentator Marcus Buckland recently discussed Djokovic’s admiration compared to that of the other two Big Three players, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Buckland feels that because Djokovic rose to prominence during a period when Federer and Nadal ruled the tennis world, it is difficult for the Serbian to be genuinely appreciated.

Former world no. 1 in doubles Paul McNamee weighed in on the matter in reaction to Buckland’s remarks, advising fans to consider Djokovic’s peers’ perceptions of him.
