After achieving the incredible feat of gaining consecutive promotions from League One to the Premier League,

Ipswich Town must now use the summer transfer window to prepare for the top tier.

According to the South London Press, the Tractor Boys are interested in Millwall attacking midfielder Zian Flemming,

who scored seven goals and provided five assists during a 2023/24 Championship campaign in which a

once-relegation-threatened Lions side finished comfortably 13th after winning five consecutive games,

including a victory over eventual champions Leicester City.

Flemming had a clear eye for goal and a creative edge despite playing for a Lions team that struggled for goals,

striking the back of the net only 45 times during the most recent season.

The 25-year-old joined English football from Dutch club Fortuna Sittard for the 2022/23 Championship season,

when he scored an astonishing 15 goals and assisted three times.

Ipswich Town fan commentator believes the Zian Flemming trade should be avoided.

Flemming has had a positive impact at The Den and has adapted well to second-tier football in his two years in England,

but he may want to continue his career somewhere,

and the Tractor Boys are willing to give him a chance to prove himself in the Premier League.

Despite his good performances in South Bermondsey, Ipswich are being pushed to seek elsewhere,

possibly further afield, for a potential attacking midfield signing  this summer by FLW’s Town fan pundit Henry.

“I don’t know whether that’s the type of player we’ll be looking for in terms of moving up to the Premier League,” Henry told Football League World.

“He certainly has excellent pedigree in terms of Championship football; he would play in that number 10 role,

right behind the striker, and we already have (Conor) Chaplin, but I believe we could get a better version of Chaplin.

“I think Flemming is at a comparable level.

“Maybe we need a young, top-six Premier League player to fill that job.

“I think Flemming would be a good buy, but he’d be rather costly,

and I think that money could be  spent better elsewhere for someone in that role.

“Looking abroad may be a better bet for someone in that 10 spot.”

Ipswich Town need to sign players of high class this summer.

Although Flemming is a good player whose services the Tractor Boys might benefit from,

he is unproven in the Premier League, and Kieran McKenna will need to buy experienced top-flight players this summer to escape relegation after promotion.

It might also be argued that the Lions player is not of a higher calibre than Chaplin,

who presently plays in the number ten position for Ipswich and was the club’s joint top scorer in the Championship with 13 goals,

helping his side to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk reported that the Tractor Boys are looking to bring

Chelsea prodigy Omari Hutchinson to Portman Road on a permanent basis after impressing under McKenna during a 2023/24 loan spell.

Hutchinson is a bright kid whose signing might boost the Suffolk club’s top-flight survival ambitions,

while some say that he would be a better permanent signing than Flemming.

However, in order to survive in the Premier League, McKenna may need to look to add players with top-level experience,

which Eddie Nketiah – who the Tractor Boys have been linked with – may offer to the club.
