JUST IN: Crysencio Summerville finally speaks on his career decision on leaving Elland Road this summer.

The 22-year-old has been excellent in the Championship this season, attracting Premier League interest this summer.

As the team gets ready for the second leg of their play-off semi-final, TEAMtalk has reported that.

Despite missing out on direct promotion to the Premier League due to their third-place finish in the Championship, the Whites still have a chance to advance through the play-offs.

On Thursday night, Leeds plays Norwich at Elland Road with the chance to go to the Wembley final. Following their first encounter on Sunday at Carrow Road, the score is tied at zero.

Summerville’s Leeds United exit stance emerges

Leeds’ star player doesn’t seem to be pressing for a move this summer, even if they lose tomorrow night or, should they make it to Wembley, in the play-off final.

Although Summerville has been linked to clubs including Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa, TEAMtalk reports that he will not attempt to force Leeds into a move this summer.

As per TEAMtalk, Summerville is content at Elland Road and would never ‘rock the boat’ by attempting to transfer elsewhere out of concern for his standing with the team.

It should be noted, the report does caution that should Leeds remain in the Championship and receive a big money offer for Summerville, it could signal a change of direction.

Crysencio Summerville’s 2023/24 season

Summerville chose to stay at Elland Road after being demoted alongside Leeds in the previous season, and it has turned out to be a wise move for the team as well as the individual.

This season, Summerville has been a standout in the division, putting on some incredible performances in addition to scoring 19 goals and dishing out nine assists.

Summerville’s excellent season earned him the title of EFL Championship player of the year, defeating opposition from Sammie Szmodics of Blackburn Rovers and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall of Leicester City.

Speaking after his award win, Summerville told the EFL“I’m on another level than before.”

“The manager plays a big role and I’m happy with the manager and how he treats the players. We have a young group but it’s been a good season so far.

“When we went down, I thought I was going to stay at Leeds and help the team to get back to where they belong and I’m happy I can help the team with my assists and goals.

“The Championship is very difficult and it’s very tough but I am enjoying it because I like games.”

Crysencio Summerville’s Leeds United contract

One aspect of Leeds’s situation that won’t change this summer is the player’s contract; having joined the team in 2022, Summerville is under contract with Leeds until the summer of 2026, meaning he will have two years remaining on his deal come summer.

As a result, any club hoping to sign Summerville this summer will need to come up with a transfer fee that Leeds is comfortable with; having signed Summerville for a reported £1.3 million in 2020, Leeds stands to gain significantly if they were to sell their star player.
