The departures of assistant academy director Tash Patel and under-21 head coach Adam Asghar have been confirmed by SAINTS.

With only one season at Saints, Scottish coach Asghar left the team to pursue a new chance abroad.

After leading a better second half of the Premier League 2 season but just missing out on the post-season playoffs,

he will take up a new position closer to home.

Asghar said as he left Southampton, “It has been an incredibly difficult decision to leave Southampton at this time.”

“I’ve enjoyed my time at the club and am really appreciative of Andy, Tash,

and Ricky for giving me the chance to captain the under-21 team this year.”

“I want to express my gratitude to all of the outstanding players I’ve worked with for their efforts,

as well as the amazing coaching staff at the academy for their support.

“Under Russell Martin and his staff, I look forward to seeing our young players continue to progress into the first team.”

“The academy is currently embarking on an extremely exciting path, and as assistant academy director,

I’m happy to have contributed to the club’s resuscitation as one of the best in player and staff development over the last 18 months.

“I’d like to take this chance to thank all the staff, players and parents for all their support,

and to Andy Goldie for giving me the opportunity to further develop and lead in different facets of the academy.”

“We pride ourselves on not only recruiting and developing young players, but also ambitious and high-quality staff,

so we’re proud to see both Tash and Adam move onto the next stages of their careers,

” academy director Andy Goldie continued in response to the departures.

“Tash has been an incredible source of support for me during my first season in this role.

She has guided the academy through a period of improvement and transformation, ultimately leading it to a far better place.

She has a fantastic and well-deserved opportunity, and I know she will take full advantage of it,

just as she has done for Southampton during her two stints here.

“Adam, a young coach with a bright future, is supported in his efforts to be closer to his family by us.

However, he has been offered a position that better fits his unique situation.

“Once more, we appreciate all of his hard work at the club and wish him the best of luck in.
