Julen Lopetegui is widely expected to be the man to replace David Moyes as the new West Ham United manager.

After receiving an offer of a two-year, £7 million contract, Julen Lopetegui is expected to take over for David

Moyes at West Ham when this season ends.

Most Hammers supporters are in favor of Lopetegui taking charge at this point.

This follows acclaim from well-known commentators, such as Guillem Balague, who praised his fellow Spaniard.

During his four and a half years in charge at the London Stadium, Moyes did miracles for West Ham, but his

brand of play grew so boring to watch that it was at times anti-football and unsuitable for contending for the top

six.

Now, Lopetegui’s task at West Ham is to enhance the foundation that Moyes established.

Perhaps the 57-year-old would never have had the opportunity to lead us if the Hammers’ top pick had not

rejected us.

Prior to hiring Julen Lopetegui, West Ham attempted to name a well-known figure.

It appears that the Hammers owners did not initially consider Lopetegui as a Moyes replacement.

It seems that the West Ham board was considering someone who is quite familiar with the team.

The owners of the Hammers reportedly approached Edin Terzic, but he turned down the opportunity to take

Moyes’ place, according to Sport Bild.

A few weeks ago, we became interested in the 41-year-old, but it doesn’t look like that was in vain.

Having previously worked with Slaven Bilic at Besiktas, Terzic joined West Ham in 2015 as his assistant.

During the historic Farewell Boleyn campaign, the 41-year-old was a key member of the management team that

guided West Ham to one of our best-ever Premier League seasons.

But after Bilic was fired in 2017, he departed the team, and in December 2020, he became the interim manager

of Borussia Dortmund.

In May 2021, he guided them to victory in the domestic cup, although it took him a year to be appointed as the team’s regular manager.

Terzic has been a big success for Dortmund, almost leading them to the Bundesliga championship the previous season.

He has guided his squad to the Champions League final this season. Terzic clearly have a very unique quality.

While we ultimately ended up with Julen Lopetegui, I would have preferred him at West Ham.

That’s by no means a negative thing, and I’m looking forward to a fascinating new chapter under the Spanish

rule.
