This summer, Brighton & Hove Albion will have to fight to hold onto player of the year Pascal Gross.

The German international, who earlier this month won both the Players’ and Fans’ Player of the Year titles,

has been a key member of Roberto De Zerbi’s squad this season.

With an incredible 13 assists this season in addition to his five goals,

Gross’s experience and shrewdness have helped Brighton weather

the loss of midfielders Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister during the summer transfer window.

The 32-year-old, who left FC Ingolstadt in 2017 to join Brighton for about £2 million,

has expressed interest in going back to Germany and the Bundesliga for both football and family reasons.

Eintracht Frankfurt is “determined to sign” Gross,

who has one year left on his contract this summer and could be available for roughly £6 million.

Head coach De Zerbi of Albion expressed his wish to keep Gross with the team for the upcoming campaign,

given that Brighton will already be without Adam Lallana’s experience.

De Zerbi stated last week, “Pascal Gross developed into a fantastic player, a top, top player for us.”

“I believe he can play on any major team since he is a very talented and intelligent player.

His enthusiasm and demeanor are amazing. I’m hoping he can remain here.

Instead of working for myself, my goal is to improve the players. I believe we can comprehend Pascal if he makes an offer.

“Although his level is higher now than it was two or three seasons ago, I still want him to be with us.

I’m speaking in this manner because I’m observing.
