BREAKING NEWS; Killie vs Celtic: Starting lineups announced as Hoops aim to secure title

Derek McInnes and Brendan Rodgers have announced their starting lineups for the Kilmarnock-Celtic Premiership match at Rugby Park.
The teams will meet in Ayrshire on Wednesday, with the Hoops hoping to secure the league title before the end of the season.

Celtic may be confirmed as champions for the third consecutive season if they avoid defeat, with Kilmarnock already in fourth place.

A win or draw would be enough to propel the league leaders over the finish line, but defeat would leave them requiring a point against St Mirren at the weekend to prevent an inconceivable collapse.

They took possession with a 2-1 win over second-placed Rangers on Saturday, with to goals from Matt O’Riley and an own goal by John Lundstram.

However, as they attempt to defeat the champions for the third time this season, the home team will do all possible to prevent the visiting fans from enjoying a party at their stadium.

Killie have previously beaten Celtic twice at Rugby Park and grabbed a late equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw in February, so they will be eager to maintain their impressive record.

However, Brendan Rodgers reiterated that his team intends to “sprint over the line” and take all three points.

McInnes has Kieran O’hara in goal, behind Lewis Mayo, Robbie Deas, Stuart Findlay, Corrie Nbada, Matty Kennedy, Danny Armstrong, Liam Donnelly, David Watson, Marley Watkins, and captain Kyle Vassell. The title contenders have made one change following their win against Rangers, with Adam Idah replacing Kyogo Furihashi at the top.

They start with Joe Hart in goal and a four-man defence consisting of Alistair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales, and Greg Taylor.

Captain Callum McGregor leads a three-man midfield alongside O’Riley and Reo Hatate, who will attempt to support a forward combination

of Daizen Maeda, James Forrest, and Idah.
