It has surfaced that Leeds United and its owners are under pressure to sell one of their loanees permanently

this summer.

Farke’s side in the pursuit of advancement

Daniel Farke’s Leeds team faces Norwich City in the second leg of their play-off semi-final before potentially

facing Southampton or West Brom at Wembley. The team is two games away from being promoted out of the

Championship and back into the top division.

They will need to create history in order to do so, though, as Leeds has never advanced through the play-offs.

Their most recent defeat came in a match against Derby County in 2019, even though they were promoted

automatically the following year.

Their lack of clarity makes it hard to plan the team, a challenge made even more difficult by the £33.7 million in

losses the club just reported and the hefty transfer costs they still owe clubs. However, it now appears from

indications that they are looking to make the most of what they currently have and will not be bought off by

clubs seeking for low prices.

Leeds is haggling about the loanee.

Borussia Monchengladbach is learning that Leeds will not be letting players go for cheap this summer if they

can avoid it. Maximilian Wober left Elland Road on loan six months after joining the team, and he has spent

this season with the German team.

After an outstanding season, the club’s higher-ups would like to keep him there permanently.

He has made 25 appearances in the German top division, netting two goals and three assists.

They are in danger, though, because the loan agreement had neither an option nor a duty to purchase the

Austrian, thus signing him has become more challenging despite his impressive performances.

Bild reports that it is likely that his final match for the team will be against Stuttgart because Leeds wants to pay

17 million euros (£14.5 million) to finalize the transaction, which is 3 million euros more than Transfermarkt

values him at.

Leeds is hoping that a strong European Championship for the defender will see interest increase and incite a

bidding war for the player, who has three years remaining on his £35,000 per week contract at Elland Road.

For their part, Gladbach are only willing to part with 9m euros to make the deal permanent.
