The Buffalo Bills announced on Tuesday that former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes

Scantling has agreed to a one-year contract.

A source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the deal, which may be worth up to $4.5 million, includes a $1.125

million signing bonus.

In February, the Chiefs cut Valdes-Scantling to clear $12 million off their cap on salaries.

Valdes-Scantling adds another seasoned wide receiver to the Bills’ depth chart following the trading of Stefon

Diggs to the Texans and the signing of Gabe Davis with the Jaguars in free agency. Along with second-round

choice Keon Coleman and free agent signings Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins, he is one of the team’s

noteworthy summer additions.

Valdes-Scantling (6-foot-4, 206 pounds) was acquired by Buffalo this offseason, continuing the team’s trend of

enlarging its receiving corps. A downfield danger as well, the 29-year-old has averaged at least 15 yards per

reception in each of his career’s seasons. Davis had served as Josh Allen, the quarterback for the Bills,’

downfield target.

By joining the team as the 14th receiver on the roster and the ninth addition this offseason,

Valdes-Scantling also adds competition to an already crowded room ahead of training camp this summer.

Valdes-Scantling, who signed as a free agency from the Packers, spent two seasons playing with the Chiefs.

Last week, he also had a visit with the Chargers. Despite having 21 receptions in 2022 and 42 in 2021,

he often had his best games during the postseason.

In the Chiefs’ 2022 AFC Championship Game victory over the Bengals, he caught eight catches for 116 yards

and a touchdown.

He scored the first touchdown for the Chiefs in their Super Bowl LVIII triumph over the Rams and grabbed a

ball to seal the Chiefs’ victory over the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game last season.
