BREAKING: Shock decisions as Portsmouth announce retained list

With a large number of players leaving Fratton Park, Pompey has executed a merciless purging of their title heroes.

The Blues have revealed their retained list, and it has been reported that veteran defender Sean Raggett is leaving PO4.

Supporters will be affected by Raggett’s departure because it occurred so soon after the team’s most seasoned player,

who had five years at the club, won League One. Additionally,

right-back Joe Rafferty is headed there after being instrumental in leading his club to victory in the regular season.

Unexpectedly, Pompey decided not to exercise Joe Morrell’s contract option; the same goes for Zak Swanson.

That doesn’t mean the two are out of luck, though; negotiations are still ongoing over new arrangements.Portsmouth release three academy players over alleged abusive messages in U18 group chat after Euro 2020 final | Football News | Sky Sports

New contracts have been extended to Marlon Pack and Connor Ogilvie,

who are desired for their involvement in John Mousinho’s Championship quest.

After leading Pompey to the championship and winning the The News player of the season award,

Pack has solidified his place in Fratton history.

After three years at the club, Ogilvie has been a pillar of consistency, and it appears that he will stay in the Championship longer.

Promising keeper Toby Steward will play for Fratton as he is about to sign new contract.

However, winger Josh Martin, who joined this season, along with goalkeeper Matt Macey and midfielder Lee Evans go.

After spent this season on loan with Aldershot,

homegrown star Haji Mnoga is also headed in that direction. With his senior debut in 2018, the Somers Town boy has been a registered player for the longest.

Harry Jewitt-White of Hayling Island, who played for Havant and Waterlooville this season and made two appearances for the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, has a similar tale to tell.

Josh Dockerill was given a one-year contract, but he had bad luck when he sustained a significant knee injury at Gosport last July. As a result, he was dismissed.

Prior to Pompey’s Championship comeback, Ryan Schofield and Liam Vincent both leave in what amounts to a massive clearout.

Myles Peart-Harris, Alex Robertson, Tino Anjorin,

and Abu Kamara are the loanees who go back to their parent clubs.

For the upcoming season, contracts have been signed by Colby Bishop,

Terry Devlin, Paddy Lane, Callum Lang, Tom Lowery, Tom McIntyre, Owen Moxon, Will Norris, Regan Poole, Christian Saydee, Anthony Scully, Conor Shaughnessy, Jack Sparkes, Ben Stevenson, Toby Steward, Ryley Towler, Gavin Whyte, and Kusini Yengi.

Additionally released are Academy scholars Mitch Aston, Kevin Bosaka,

Sam Folarin, Jack Fox, Koby Mottoh, Dan Murray, Destiny Ojo, Malachi Osei-Owusu, Brian Quarm, and Bastian Smith.
