£50k-p/w West Ham man to follow Moyes out exit door after losing his place

Following the news that David Moyes will be leaving West Ham at the conclusion of the season, a number of players could depart the team this summer.
Everything is different this summer.

The worst kept secret in football was confirmed when it was revealed last week that Moyes will be departing the London Stadium following a subpar finish to the Premier League season. This marked the end of his four and a half-year tenure at the club.

It seems unlikely that he will be the only player departing the Hammers this summer, since they are obviously eager to make a change in direction. After turning down a second contract offer to stay, Ben Johnson is poised to go as a free agent, while senior players Aaron Cresswell and Michail Antonio are also anticipated to depart the London Stadium when their contracts expire.

The contracts of 35-year-old defender Angelo Ogbonna and Vladimir Coufal are up. It is not yet known if the Hammers will choose to activate Coufal’s one-year option.

There will also be a line forming for some of West Ham’s best players. Mohammed Kudus has drawn interest from elite clubs with his performances this season, and Lucas Paqueta has been heavily linked to a move to Manchester City (a deal that only fell through due to a betting scandal last summer).

The London team might have to cash in and reinvest that money because there isn’t any European football to tempt them to stay. Additionally, manager Julen Lopetegui, who will soon arrive, probably has a long list of players he wants to add to his own roster this summer.
