Sunderland have a hectic summer transfer window,

with sporting director Kristjaan Speakman under pressure to bring in a new head coach and more players to the Black Cats’ inexperienced and small group.

The Wearsiders finished 16th in the Championship during the 2023-24 season,

with many fans dissatisfied by the club’s decline following Tony Mowbray’s dismissal in December.

With all eyes on the impending transfer window and Sunderland’s next head coach search,

it appears that this summer might be a watershed moment for the club’s management.

Black Cats are interested in ex-Barcelona man.

Sunderland are allegedly among numerous clubs interested in Leeds forward Ian Poveda.

Before joining Leeds United in 2020, the forward played for Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona, Manchester City, and Brentford as a youth.

However, the 24-year-old will become a free agent this summer when his contract with Leeds expires,

having made 10 Championship appearances on loan at Sheffield Wednesday during the second part of the season.

Wednesday are hoping to re-sign the Colombia international on a permanent basis, with other Championship clubs reportedly interested.

According to Spanish daily Diario AS, Luton and Burnley may make a move for Poveda this summer if they are relegated from the Premier League,

while Sunderland have looking at the player.

£10m Danny Rohl’s reports surface

Sunderland would reportedly have to pay a substantial compensation fee to hire Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl as their new head coach.

The 35-year-old German has been heavily linked with the Black Cats in recent weeks,

with Championship rivals Hull also reportedly interested.

Rohl is thought to have had cordial talks with Wednesday about his future at Hillsborough, despite keeping the team in the Championship.

According to our sister publication the Sheffield Star,

‘the compensation fee required to steal the 35-year-old away from Wednesday is set somewhere in the close area of an eye-watering £5million.’

According to the report, if a team wants to sign Rohl, the sum will practically quadruple.
