CONFIRMED: Everton just signed Leicester star who’s all but confirmed his departure from the King Power

A number of important players are expected to depart,

and Everton will not have much money to spend on new players.

Their director of football, Kevin Thelwell,

acknowledged in a recent interview that the Toffees would need to be astute in the

upcoming window given their ongoing takeover saga.

Everton will prioritize signing players on loan and on a free transfer as

they attempt to improve on a season in which they valiantly staved off relegation under Sean Dyche.

Thelwell has already compiled a list of potential targets,

and Kelechi Iheanacho of Leicester City is a player in whom Everton has long had an interest.

The Nigerian international was linked to the Merseyside club last summer,

but they were unable to persuade him to leave the King Power Stadium.

His current contract is scheduled to expire at the end of June,

so if he doesn’t sign a new agreement with the Foxes, he will be free to sign with another team.

Major clue about future to come from Everton target

Iheanacho virtually announced his exit from the King Power

after Leicester’s final game of their championship-winning campaign when he was seen sporting a t-shirt that said,

“We’ve got history.” You are going to miss me when I’m gone.

This season, he has found himself farther down Enzo Maresca’s hierarchy,

making just 23 league appearances (mainly as a substitute) and tallying five goals.

Iheanacho has demonstrated in the past that he is a formidable player in the Premier League,

and a number of elite teams are monitoring his progress.

Keith Wyness, the former CEO of Everton,

has stated that the club will probably attempt to sign Iheanacho this summer on a free transfer.

“I would have assumed his agent would have given him advice on the t-shirt,”

he said on the Insider Track podcast with Football Insider.

“His future will have been discussed behind closed doors,

and there may be tight communication between the two parties.

“Perhaps he’s attempting to exert fan pressure on the board.”

There’s generally something going on behind the scenes, so all these small things aren’t just coincidences.

“I would keep an eye on him because I think he can do a great job for Premier League teams.”

He may be able to make a nice move into the Premier League;

I know Everton has shown interest in him.
