Sunderland custodian Anthony Patterson is once again drawing transfer interest ahead of the summer transfer season.

According to reports last month, Liverpool has been keeping a close eye on Patterson as they prepare for a potential vacancy during the postseason break.

However, new sources indicate that recently relegated Sheffield United are preparing a “ambitious” £8 million bid.

According to Alan Nixon, Sunderland had “hoped for double the amount United are prepared to pay” but could sell throughout the window.

Blades manager Chris Wilde is apparently looking for a new number one with Wes Foderingham out of contract,

leaving United with Grbic, who has failed to impress since joining the club.

Arsenal is also thought to be interested in Patterson, as are Championship clubs Leeds United and Leicester City.

Celtic, the Scottish champions, have also been keeping an eye on the youngster this season as they seek a replacement for the retiring Joe Hart.

Patterson signed a new five-year contract last September and has been valued between £10 million and £20 million by various sites.
