The former Sunderland striker is now looking for a new club after being released.

Charlie Wyke, a former Sunderland and Middlesbrough striker, is now a free agent.

The striker, who has 130 goals in all competitions in his career,

spent the second half of last season on loan at Rotherham United after leaving Wigan Athletic.

The Millers were relegated from the Championship, while the Latics will play another season in League One in 2024-25.

Wyke scored 42 goals in all competitions for the Black Cats between 2018 and 2021,

winning the Papa John’s Trophy with the club at Wembley Stadium under former head coach Lee Johnson before joining Wigan Athletic on a free transfer.

The 32-year-old helped Wigan gain promotion to the Championship in 2021-22, but the Latics were relegated the following season.

Wyke, on the other hand, will face an uncertain summer as he searches for a new club following his release from Wigan.

Former Black Cats Connor Wickham, Lomana LuaLua, Tom Flanagan, and Aiden O’Brien were all released by League One clubs at the end of the season.
