This summer, Brighton will have to bring in another winger.

After the 2022–2023 season, Brighton was riding high as, despite all odds,

they qualified for the Europa League under new manager Roberto De Zerbi,

who more than proved he could compete in the Premier League.

Nevertheless, Brighton’s lack of depth in the team was evident this season, particularly in critical positions,

as the Seagulls were forced into the mid-table and will not be able to play in Europe the following year.

Despite considerable interest from elite European football teams, it appears like De Zerbi will remain for the time being.

Even if he were to depart, he would probably force the team to make a bold hiring in order to continue the project.

Brighton needs a successful summer to maintain its momentum, and De Zerbi already has some ideas on how

the Seagulls might strengthen some of their most vulnerable areas.

Depending on how players Solly March and Kaoru Mitoma heal from their catastrophic injuries,

Brighton may recruit another winger this summer, according to a report from Andy Naylor of The Athletic.

Meanwhile, according to Roberto De Zerbi’s own comments,

Naylor is stating that March is unlikely to return for Brighton’s 2024–2025 preseason.

Regarding March, De Zerbi stated, “I don’t think so, since he hasn’t started to run.”

I’m not sure if the group can begin the pre-season in just one month.

March required a second knee surgery after suffering a severe injury in October.

Due to his history of knee problems, Brighton supporters are concerned about the elite Premier League winger’s

potential upon his return at the age of 29.

Since one of those young talents, Mitoma, has been sidelined by injury himself, Brighton will effectively be

forced to add one more quality winger to the rotation to complement the other young standouts in the team due

to the pessimism surrounding March’s potential preseason comeback.
