Harrison Ashby was finally acquired by Newcastle United for £3 million from West Ham United in January of last year, following a protracted transfer.

Harrison Ashby, a right-back, was considered by West Ham supporters to be one of their most intriguing youth prospects. However, Newcastle realized this and enticed Ashby away in January 2023 on deadline day for a £3 million transaction.

Although we didn’t anticipate Ashby to storm into the first team out of the gate, we did see him as a long-term successor for Kieran Trippier and one for the future.

As a matter of fact, Ashby’s style of play had frequently been likened to that of Trippier, so it felt obvious.

Tino Livramento leapfrogged Harrison Ashby in the pecking order

Ashby looked to have a bright future after making an impression during Newcastle’s preseason and even managing to get on the scoring. However, after Newcastle paid £32 million to sign right-back Tino Livramento, there was a sudden and widespread confusion.

Livramento was obviously now viewed as Kieran Trippier’s heir apparent, but what did this signify for Ashby?

Harrison Ashby went on loan to Swansea this season, where he performed admirably for the Swans. However, he is back, and according to GiveMeSport, his time at Newcastle may finish early this summer.

We are hoping there’s no truth to this one but we can’t be sure

Ashby is now believed to be one of four players who will be urged to find new clubs ahead of

the upcoming season when they return from their current loan at the end of this one.

We can’t help but feel a little devastated if it’s true,

even though it’s not the most unlikely situation given that the team has to raise money but doesn’t want to sell any of its key players.

Ashby has a ton of promise and, as we’ve already mentioned, looked quite promising in the preseason,

so we really hope that’s not the case. However, he was never intended for the here and now and was always a signing for the future.

The other players identified are Jamal Lewis, Ryan Fraser, and Isaac Hayden. As far as they are.
