The pair exchanged angry words in front of the dugouts

There was plenty of action on the pitch as Celtic defeated Rangers, with three goals, one at the wrong end and a red card.

As often, sparks flew when these teams met, with John Lundstram being sent out for a violent tackle on Alistair Johnston

, and VAR assisting referee Willie Collum in upgrading his initial yellow card. Despite some late pressure from the ten men, the Hoops held their composure to finish with three points.

There was also a lot going on off the pitch, and we’ve included some of our favorite photos from the day.

Hoops number two. John Kennedy and Gers manager Philippe Clement stepped in, and Rodgers and Kennedy seemed to see the amusing side of things. There didn’t appear to be any bad blood at full-time, as everyone shook hands. However, one incident that appears to have gone unreported was a spat between Celtics manager Brendan Rodgers and visiting coach Alex Rae on the bench.

Rodgers and Rae had already spoken during the last Old Firm game, a 3-3 draw at Ibrox last month. The Gers coach appeared enraged as he spoke to the Northern Irishman near the dugouts.

In the days leading up to this one, both managers engaged in a media war of words. Rodgers had ignited it by stating that he wanted to “have fun” during the derby.

He responded, “Take nothing for granted, maintain our composure, we have a lot of work to do this week, and prepare our plan.”

“And then next Saturday we can have a bit of fun.”

Clement was offended, saying, “That is something I would never say about an opponent.” But, okay, we’ll see.

“It’s not very respectful to my team.” That’s what I think. So I’ll never say something like that about an opponent.”
