OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED:NEWCASTLE VS BRIGHTON POSTPONED AND NEW DATE ANNOUNCED

Newcastle will host Brighton & Hove Albion at St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon in an attempt to solidify

their spot in the top six of the Premier League.

The Magpies are out for retribution against the Seagulls after Evan Ferguson’s hat-trick gave them a 3-1 loss in

the rematch at the Amex Stadium in September.

Despite missing out on a second straight top-four finish this season, Newcastle is still on track to make the

Europa League the next year after a recent run of excellent play.

The Magpies had only one victory in their final five games of the previous season,

but they enter this season with a positive attitude after winning four of their netting 14 goals in the previous five games.

Newcastle easily defeated Burnley 4-1 last Saturday, one week after thrashing Sheffield United 5-1 at home.

Callum Wilson, Sean Longstaff, and Bruno Guimaraes all scored in the first half, and Alexander Isak added his

20th Premier League goal of the year in the second half.

With three games remaining, Eddie Howe’s team is now two points clear of eighth-place Manchester United

and seventh-place Chelsea in the table, four points behind an underperforming Tottenham Hotspur team in

fifth.

Newcastle will therefore need to put in more work to ensure that they play in Europe next season.

Their first task will be to take on Brighton on Saturday, who they have defeated 6-2 overall in their last two

home games.

A year after achieving their highest-ever Premier League position of sixth, Brighton appeared to be heading for

a disastrous conclusion to the season and are still in danger of finishing in the bottom half of the standings, in

sharp contrast to Newcastle.
