Dejaune Brown, a Gateshead loan striker, is fully focused on helping Rob Elliot’s side win the FA Trophy this weekend, despite speculation connecting him to Sunderland and Newcastle United.

The Derby County academy product has been in excellent form with the National League team, scoring eight goals and contributing seven assists in 21 appearances during his first loan spell in what appears to be a very promising career.

Despite being only 18 years old, the big young forward has demonstrated maturity and talent much above his years. He will try to build on his already shining reputation in Saturday’s FA Trophy Final against Solihull Moors.

However, with his first visit to Wembley Stadium just hours away, Brown has stated that he is just concerned with assisting Elliot’s men in claiming success beneath the arch, rather than focusing on speculation that other teams are interested in his services.

He told The Echo: “To be fair, there are rumours, and there will always be rumours, but I don’t let that affect how I play or how I act, and all I want to do is go out there and help the team in any way I can.”

Derby have been in touch with me on a regular basis, helped me get through my loan term here, and have complimented me on how things have gone.

They’ve pointed out areas where I can enhance my game, and I’ve been working on them in preparation for my return in the summer.”
He stated, “It’s the perfect ending (to my loan spell), especially if we win and I’m out there with all of the boys and supporters.”

The fans have been quite helpful in settling me in, and given what I’ve done so far, it’s been fantastic to be in and around the supporters.

The cup has been fantastic, with the hat-trick and then the assists against Macclesfield, and now I’m trying to carry that into the final and win the cup.”
