Jan Oblak is set to chelsea next summer, transfer talks concluded
In an attempt to address their goalkeeping problems this summer, Chelsea is reportedly planning a move for Atletico Madrid star Jan Oblak, insiders have revealed to Football Insider.
Though his contract doesn’t expire until 2028, the La Liga team might be willing to let the Slovenian international go this summer in an effort to increase their transfer budget.
The Blues are considering a deal for Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale, who has lost his starting spot at the Emirates, according to a recent report from Football Insider.
It’s looking more and more likely that Chelsea will start a new goalie at the beginning of the following campaign.
Even if the Blues have had a recent upsurge, they have still had a very challenging campaign overall, and their defensive shortcomings are still quite evident.
This season, Mauricio Pochettino’s team has given up 59 goals, which is the ninth-highest total in the Premier League.
This has been partially caused by the team’s lack of a reliable number one, as Petrovic and Sanchez have split the playing time this season.
In exchange for Oblak, Chelsea would acquire a goalkeeper who, in 442 games for Atletico—13 of which have been this season—has recorded 204 clean sheets.
The Argentine boss will be keen to bring in a reliable goalkeeper as he looks to get things moving at Stamford Bridge the following season.
