An independent committee determined that the Toffees had violated the profit and

sustainability rules (PSR) by £16.6 million during the three-year period leading up to 2022–2023;

as a result, the team was punished two points.

The appeal was scheduled for next week, and the decision was expected to be made before Arsenal’s season-ending match on May 19.

In February, the Toffees’ 10-point deduction for PSR violations throughout the three-year period

ending in 2021–2022 was lowered to six points on appeal.

A string of victories at home against Brentford, Liverpool, and Nottingham Forest last month

guaranteed Everton’s place in the Premier League.

On Saturday at 15:00 BST, they play their final home game of the season at Goodison Park against Sheffield United.

The independent commission stated that the Premier League’s starting point for any PSR

consequence was a five-point deduction in its written reasons for Everton’s most recent deduction. However, it acknowledged that two should be removed because to the overlap in the years that

were examined in the club’s two incidents.
