This weekend marks the commencement of rookie minicamp for the Dallas Cowboys,

who have already signed all but one of their newly drafted players.

Marshawn Kneeland, a second-round pick, is the only rookie who has not yet signed. Todd Archer of ESPN broke the story first.

In this year’s draft, Mel Kiper Jr. graded the Cowboys with a B-.

Although he approved of the boys’ first few picks, he was not pleased with their third-round selection of Marist Liufau,

a linebacker, with one of their two picks.

mostly because there were many good rookies staring them in the face and the team’s obvious weakness at running back.

It’s May 10th, and I’m not sure why Kneeland is still unsigned. Since they will need his depth in 2024,

I would like to think they can work out a contract with him.

With Cooper Beebe, I think the Cowboys hit a home run. I adored this pick’s value.

Dallas selected Beebe 73rd overall. For Dallas, a player who most likely had a second-round rating is a fantastic value.

While at Kansas State, Beebe took snaps during practice but did not participate in any games at center.

Instead, he played at left tackle, left guard, right tackle, and right guard.

Having said that, as I mentioned above, Beebe will provide depth in addition to competing for the starting center spot next season.

Beebe was named Big 12 Lineman of the Year twice in a row.

At 6’3, 322, he is an absolute stud.

With a career grade of 88.3, Beebe earned the highest of all guards eligible for the draft.

What a tremendous bargain the Cowboys acquired at pick 73, despite the fact that he might move to center, which is highly likely.

Although the Cowboy offensive line will be youthful, they should be as good as they were the previous season.

The one selection about which I have reservations is Marshawn Kneeland.

He is a Western Michigan defensive end. Kneeland finished the previous season at WMU with a career-high 57 tackles.

2.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss.

He has 13 sacks and 28.0 tackles for loss in four seasons. As a redshirt sophomore, he also blocked a kick.

Here’s where we need to be real with ourselves.

The majority of these inexperienced players will have the opportunity to go right in and contribute.

Some rookies may not even see the field, including Caelen Carson, drafted in the fifth round.

Ryan Flournoy was drafted in the sixth round, and Nathan Thomas was drafted in the seventh round.

I have heard some talk about Flournoy, though, if Dallas decides not to sign Zay Jones, who they brought in for a visit this week.

This summer, Dallas lost a lot more than they won, so Jerry Jones is once again looking to the youthful draft class to ignite the team.

Not that it won’t work; it just makes you wonder why you haven’t been able to

Clear cap space and get deals with your two best players, Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb.

We’ll see how rookie minicamp goes this weekend, but other than watching them learn how to be an NFL player, we probably won’t get much.

We’ll have to wait and watch how this offseason plays out.

It’s hoped that before Jerry Jones allows Justin Jefferson to sign, CeeDee Lamb at least secures a new deal.

Lamb is going to demand more money if he waits any longer.
